Thanks for your interest and time to comment.
Although some people do indeed experience change without "noting" it, many people do, so it seems just that conscious efforts to change or to be self-aware aren't required for change via neurofeedback.
And this makes sense to me, because the kind of neurofeedback work I do is nonlinear and not dependent on a top-down, conscious change process.
And it also makes sense to me that changing from within, with change rippling up organically rather than being imposed, would also be a seamless process not always easily felt as "different".
Raising awareness is critical if one hopes to either direct the nature of the change (e.g., most talk-therapies) or if one is working without being able to give direct feedback to the brain about its own processing (e.g., observation in mindfulness-type meditations).
And perhaps that's why so many people seem drawn to the effortless change neurofeedback can produce. ;-)
