The myth part of this statement is certainly true: that we only use 10 percent our brains... but I do not recall that being the original observation.
I have always understood this to be a statement on potential, not on power or capacity.
Aside from those bizarre folks who insist on ESP and telekinesis, I'm puzzled that anyone would take this mean as such.
In essence, it means for us to get off our lazy butts; we are wasting most of what we have at our disposal.
In fact, if nothing else, I think this article would show that if we apply ourselves to more, we have the potential to achieve more! (perhaps 90% more of what you are currently doing in your life)
